The Middle East is an area where automobile is king and fuel is low-cost, typically leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have pushed up the cost of oil, the concern of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In an area that has one of the greatest carbon footprints on the planet, one organization is benefiting from the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It's established the Middle East's very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving profitable too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
